Painted Reed Pants
Painted Reed Pants
Built to roam. The Painted Reed Pants are handmade in Muizenburg from taslon, a lightweight nylon with a soft, dry, almost cotton-like feel. It has the toughness of a technical fabric without the plasticky rustle.
Taslon is woven from textured nylon yarn, which gives it a matte finish and a bit of body. Here’s what makes it good for hiking pants:
- Quick drying: It sheds water and dries fast after river crossings, drizzle or sweat.
- Light and packable: It barely weighs anything and folds down small in your pack.
- Breathable: It moves air, so it stays comfortable on long climbs.
- Hard-wearing: Nylon resists abrasion from rocks, scrub and fynbos.
- Wind resistant: The tight weave cuts the chill on exposed ridges.
- Soft hand-feel: It’s comfortable against the skin and doesn’t feel stiff or crinkly.
- Easy care: It washes easily and keeps its shape.
